Eitam and Naama Henkin, from Neria, were shot dead yesterday in Israel. They leave behind four children aged 4 months, 4, 7 and 9, who were all in the vehicle at the time of the attack, but thankfully escaped the gunfire.
The Henkin family were attacked by a Palestinian vehicle as they slowed down before making a turn. Naama was killed instantly as she was struck multiple times in her upper body. Despite suffering multiple bullet wounds, Eitam got out of the car to save the children, before falling to the ground. Both Eitam and Naama were pronounced dead at the scene.
One Family has set up an emergency fund for Eitam’s and Naama’s orphans. Additionally, One Family’s specialist counsellors are currently on hand to work out the long term needs of the family, especially for the grandparents who will now take charge of the children.
We will be with the Henkin family for as long as they need us. The children may not have physical injuries, but the psychological and emotional scars will take years to heal. We shall not fail them.
